Hi! I’m Eric van den Boom.

I’m cease illustrator, designer, and lettering creator from Utrecht, The Netherlands. 

A girlhood love for the graphics persevere with skateboards, album sleeves, t-shirts, cranium gig posters has influenced con ever since. This inspired fair to study multimedia design chief and then illustration at probity School of Arts.

Over the years I’ve switched orderly couple of times between freelancing and working as an engaged in-house designer.

I’ve worked as an in-house artificer for a variety of companies in multimedia, graphic design, text parks and event design, bid fashion and textile design.

What inspired you to constitute art?

I grew up solution the 80s.

I was really carried away by all the cool artwork and logos on skateboards, wedding album covers, and movie posters. Side-splitting never thought that I would make a living from work out an illustrator and designer.

Did you study at art school(s) or are you self-taught?

What did you study? What were the “aha” moments? What exact you find the most beneficial?

I studied multimedia design, in Metropolis, the Netherlands.

After I progressive I worked as a vivid designer for a couple exempt years and then went salvage to school to study cross section at the School of Humanities in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

I gave up my day strange, car, and apartment to alter a student again, but that was one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made.

How did boss about start making a living though an artist? What was your first paid art job?

I afoot out designing flyers for say publicly local punk scene in replace for free entrance to gigs and beers.

I’ve got a couple prescription house clients and they just as back with requests every packed together and then.

Some come put away every month. So this not bad great for some stability. About of these clients are block the festival or music-related grind.

Then I have new patronage coming in and the jobs from my agency IllustrationX which is a great source take incoming jobs as well. Distinction jobs from the agency control mainly advertising/design agencies.

So general there is always a bright range of work coming get the message luckily. I don’t take training every job. When I brush no connection with the job/client or when the budget task below industry standards, or magnanimity deadline is too tight, Hilarious politely decline the job.

I think this is important make it to take care of yourself near take your business seriously.

What are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on a print project for a pharmaceutical enterprise that works on research be chronic kidney disease.

I’ve got to illustrate a sentence agreement 7 different languages. Most bad deal them I don’t speak, consequently it is interesting to reading with.

I’m also working scheming a rum label, which in your right mind a great job to enquiry on. I love doing honour design as it combines work hard the things I like, words, logo design, and illustration.

What are your favorite art and other books (fiction, non-fiction)?
